On an iPhone 14, old Lock Screen designs are managed from the Lock Screen itself. If several wallpaper pairs have accumulated, you can remove the ones you no longer use without touching the source photos.
Remove one on iPhone 14
- Press the Side button to wake the iPhone 14.
- From the Lock Screen, touch and hold the background.
- Use Face ID or the passcode if the phone asks you to unlock.
- Swipe through the saved Lock Screens.
- On the unwanted one, swipe upward and tap the trash icon.
Face ID and the wallpaper gallery
Because the iPhone 14 uses Face ID, it may unlock while you are looking at it. That is fine. Remain in the Lock Screen gallery instead of swiping up to the Home Screen.
Lock Screen and Home Screen are paired
A saved wallpaper can include both a Lock Screen and a related Home Screen appearance. Deleting that saved pair removes the configuration, not the underlying picture in Photos.
If you only want a different Home Screen
Choose Customize on the wallpaper pair and edit the Home Screen side instead of deleting the entire pair. You can use a photo, color, gradient, or blur depending on the available options.
Cleaning up several old designs
Repeat the swipe-up-and-trash action for each unwanted saved pair. Keep at least the design you want to use, and check Focus-linked Lock Screens before deleting one you still rely on.
