Current iPhones can record a one-to-one phone call in supported countries and regions. When recording starts, both participants hear an audio notice, and the recording is saved in the Notes app.
Quick steps
- Start or answer the phone call.
- During the call, tap More.
- Tap Call Recording.
- Wait for the audible notice that recording has started.
- Stop the recording or end the call when finished.
- Open Notes > Call Recordings to play the saved recording.
Availability depends on region
Apple’s call-recording feature is not available in every country or region. If the control does not appear, check Apple’s current feature-availability information before assuming something is wrong with your iPhone.
Consent and notification

Because availability can change by country, region, language, and software version, use the presence of Apple’s Call Recording control as the practical check on your device. Do not install an unknown recording app merely because the native control is unavailable. Third-party call-recording services can route calls through external systems and have different privacy, billing, and consent implications.
Before an important recorded call, make a short noncritical test call so you know where the recording control appears and where the finished recording is stored. Confirm that you can play the test recording afterward. This is especially useful for interviews or meetings, because discovering a settings or storage problem after the conversation cannot recover audio that was never recorded.

Older iPhone tutorials often begin with third-party call-recording apps because iOS did not previously include native recording. On a current supported iPhone, check the in-call More menu for Call Recording before considering an outside service. Availability still depends on country, region, and software support.
