You can move photos from a Windows PC to an iPhone with Apple Devices or keep them synchronized through iCloud Photos. The best method depends on whether you want a one-time local sync or an ongoing cloud photo library.
Sync photos with Apple Devices on Windows
- Install or open the Apple Devices app on the PC.
- Connect the iPhone with USB or USB-C and unlock it.
- Approve the Trust prompt if it appears.
- Select the iPhone in the Apple Devices sidebar.
- Choose Photos.
- Enable photo syncing and choose the folder or folders you want to sync.
- Select Apply to start the sync.
Synced photos appear in Photos on the iPhone. Apple notes that the local photo-sync controls are not available in the same way when iCloud Photos is enabled.
Use iCloud Photos instead
If you already use iCloud Photos, install iCloud for Windows and use the iCloud photo workflow rather than creating a separate cable-based synced library. Photos added through iCloud become available across devices signed in to the same account when syncing completes.
Understand synced-photo behavior
Photos synchronized from a PC through Apple Devices are managed by that sync relationship. Removing a folder from the sync selection can remove those synced photos from the iPhone during a later sync.
Keep the original PC copies. Do not treat a synced iPhone as the only storage location for important pictures.

Unlock the iPhone, reconnect the cable, and approve Trust This Computer. Try another data-capable cable or USB port if needed. Update Apple Devices and Windows if the connection remains unreliable.
Choose the right method for a small number of pictures
For only a few images, a cloud drive, email, messaging service, or another supported transfer method may be simpler than configuring a full photo sync. Use Apple Devices when you want a repeatable folder-based relationship between the PC and iPhone.
Why iCloud Photos changes the instructions
Apple Devices does not offer the same folder-sync photo controls when iCloud Photos is active because iCloud is already managing the photo library. Decide which system you want to use rather than mixing two methods without understanding how each one handles additions and removals.
Keep the PC originals until you verify the sync
After syncing, open several photos on the iPhone and confirm the expected folders or albums are present. Do not delete the source folder from the PC simply because the pictures appeared on the phone. Maintaining another copy is especially important for photos that do not exist anywhere else.

Keep the Find My sections distinct: Devices is for Apple devices associated with your account and eligible family devices, while People is for people who intentionally share their location. Do not treat Find My as a way to secretly monitor someone who has not chosen to share with you.

Protect existing photos before syncing
